The Anderson Sisters bedazzle NYC
It all started when I got a call from my beautiful sister Jazmin Ave' Anderson who invited me to go with her to New York this weekend , she had an event and a really good friend who lives out there. After about a million questions later with a little convincing and a miracle from God I decided that I was able to go . This was very spur of the moment now or later kind of thing , and Ive always wanted to go to the big apple and see the statue of Liberty and the Empire State building like in all the movies and have my moment on Times Square so this would be a dream I thought.
Thanks to my amazing cousin Michelle and her Southwest connection Friday morning after my interview for a promotion with Enterprise , I headed straight for the airport. Michelle confirmed and sent me the flight details and I was on my way to the big city.About 3 stops later 2 plane changes and roughly eleven hours I landed in Newark, New Jersey .
I must admit that a lot of people had some things to say about how New York was dirty and this and that and if it weren't for my cool plane buddy who I sat next to on the plane to Newark, New Jersey who was from India , those thoughts would have been there.
He assured me that I would Love New York told me about a cool falafel spot and said to go to times square at 2 a.m , to do the tour of the statue of liberty . I could se his passion and love for the state so I went in with an open mind, yes I know when you have a population of 19.47 people in the state, things can get a little crowded and a little messy which was to be expected.
Fresh Off the Plane
When I first got off the plane boom , I saw a lot of people and a some little messes but The energy of New York like I heard about is very real , its a very fluid movement in retrospect of getting up and going and movement. So diverse and spotting a few attractive people off the bat was very comforting.
As I went to baggage claim and awaited Jazmin's arrival the diversity of New Jersey was ubiquitous .People from all different walks of life , different parts of the globe different heritage, ethnicities and all here with me in this very special time in history, my life.
Reuniting with my Beautiful superstar sister was amaze we were both so excited and happ to see each other with hugs and kisses all around and of course a welcoming snap to kick off our adventures we were ready to take on the world.
My lovely suitcase had found its way stuck at the airport in St. Louis without me and I without it so we had to make due and go shopping. But while the night was still young 11:45pm local time Jazz said we were going out and I was excited and ready to turn up .
Paint the Town Red
WE meet up with some friends and we all headed out to paint the town red.Nicki baba from Love and hip hop was the host of one spot so we went .
I got so many compliments on my full suit attire . One guy said that i looked like I was in the mile high club and others tried to hold my hand ,flirted and just said they loved the suit. I even meet a young girl who likes to inspire women and let them know that they can be sexy and classy and she felt like that I was perfect for her message so we took pictures and she posted them on her Instagram. All in all it was fun to see the packed night life of Chelsea, New York at tao a really hot spot the bouncer told me that a lot of celebrities come through there Drake was just there a few weeks ago he said. After dancing the night away meeting new people and 5 snapchats later we left all smiles , about 4 in the morning and heels on fleek.
We decided that public transportation , the subway would be the route we would use to go back to New Jersey.
Italian "Romance "
So we go down to wait for the subway there was amongst a few random people this beautiful human being in all black sitting waiting with a little skateboard boogie board thing. I could tell he was from overseas and he had me at first glance.
we were all talking and fanning ourselves recapping our night and then this random guy comes up to me and tried to hand me a wallet , Kataweh told him I need some space and to come behind her so I did. The subway pulled up right on time and he like followed us to the train . and after I declined the weird wallet he through on the subway right behind me after showing me it was empty . We just looked at it and grabbed some seats .
The handsome young feller sat across the way from me to the right and he looked like he had some friends who were Italian , after someone asked him where he was from he said Italy he and his Italian friend were getting into some kind of disagreement about something and as much as I tried I couldn't take my eyes off of him .I looked away and told myself to just ignore it were almost on the way home, then I asked what part of Italy he was from after I looked over at him and he was looking at me .We made eye contact and he told me where and when our stop came up we ended up conversing outside of the train and he was very into me.I told him he was very attractive and and asked him does he get that a lot and he said yeah, i laughed and looked into those green eyes .He walked me about half a mile , up the stairs and to the escalator to our Uber. We hugged and he softly gripped my hand as I walked away like he didn't want me to leave he said why not tonight when I tried to say Ill see him again.
Having to rush to meet my Uber my sister and friends urged me to come on . It was chemistry and romantically Italian vibes going on , what a way to end the night.
We caught the Uber had a few laughs on the way home and then we readied ourselves for an early morning.
A Day in the City
Saturday morning I awakened with a smile on my face and ready to see all that New Jersey and New York had to offer me. We headed out early to do some shopping and with this being my only full day we decided to make the best of it . Me Jazmin and Paula headed out towardsMaddison Square Garden a sigh to see and to wish Mariah Carey good luck since she was performing that night .We then headed towards tribeca, Queens, ended up in Harlem where I got to see the World famous Apollo theater , some mosaic art and much more.
Being the photo queen we snapped a bazillion pictures of our journey from the Maserati of Manhattan to the events that were happening in between to walking down Broadway and Canal and seeing soho and all the historic buildings and all the people of New York.
After some shopping and some New York pizza we made our way ti the famous Times Square which ha=d its on strip so to speak. It was like Las Vegas lights but better more moving digital Screens and lights everywhere hundreds of thousands of people and such vibrance of life and tourism. Everyone is taking pictures theres music playing lights everywhere m lines to get into the wax museums and people dressed up in shining outfits, superheroes even and live street performances going on. We were lucky enough to see a lovely black couple get proposed to where they had their pictures on the billboards of Time square and a limo and the whole thing we congratulated them and were in awe.
With the desire to capture every thing I had to make a short video and take pictures. Enjoying the moment and interacting with the people there and how many people were there was astonishing much more in real life than I thought I saw on the movies. The whole time that frank Sinatra song is playing in my head New York New York , dancing in the streets modeling and having a good time feeling good vibes is what it is all about.
I was so happy to see the empire state building even from afar it made my heart melt and I knew then that this weekend getaway is one to remember an unforgettable one at that. I felt like a star in the movies seeing iconic pieces of New York and New Jersey had me in awe and still feels surreal l , I still cant believe that I was actually in New York and in times square with thousands of people with a huge smile on my face and adventure in my heart.
As we were walking the streets of New Jersey I looked up and saw two bright stars , what a site to see. Alicia Keys and Jay - Z said Welcome to New York , these streets will make you feel brand new, these lights will inspire you, lets hear it for New York ,New York .If you could make it here you can make it anywhere.
